Marketing Advice

Anne-Marie Busch, Marketing Manager at K2, highlights some key points and figures to help you ensure that you develop a website that is found and generates sales leads.

So what should you be doing to ensure that your website is going to be noticed / found and visitors stay on the site long enough to get them interested in your product?

Designing your site
  • Theme individual pages, for example “Victorian conservatory”, and include useful descriptive content using the theme
  • Make it easy for potential customers to contact you by providing an email address or online contact form, and a dedicated telephone number
  • Make sure your site / pages do not take too long to load up
  • Remember to include information that your customers will want to read about.(testimonials, installation pictures, your accreditations, talk about your products, your work ethics, insurances and guarantees).
  • Choose a domain name that is relevant to searches (e.g. if your name is bloggs conservatories chose bloggs-conservatories.co.uk)
  • Use an email address on your domain name (i.e This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) rather then This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Once your site is published...
  • Promote your internet address on all your marketing collateral
  • List your site on relevant online directories (look out for free listings)
  • Exchange links with relevant websites (for example list your blinds supplier and ask them to list you on their site).
  • Submit your site to search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing and Open Directory project)
  • Use Google Analytics (it’s free!) to find out how your site is performing
  • Run Google Adwords campaigns which will allow you to come up high in the search results even if your site’s organic results aren’t that great.

I hope these few pointers will help you turn your site into an effective sales tool.
