Hospital Highs
K2 Architectural Systems recently enhanced its international reputation with the installation of a portal framed structure several stories up at The Brooklyn Hospital Centre, New York.
This project was carried out alongside Long Island-based Hampton Conservatories and involved a portal framed solution, K2’s new aluminium roof system, K2’s Konnect side framing system and high specification glazing. The newly installed glazed enclosure has been designed as an additional waiting area for patients and has made a real feature of the building. All those involved in the project have been particularly delighted with the end result including the senior board at the hospital.
Given K2’s experience and resources they were able to liaise with the architect, construction team, the hospital’s building works department and Paul Avis from Hampton Conservatories to ensure the project was completed safely and efficiently. Given the success of the project, K2 has already received further orders for portal framed structures from Hampton Conservatories.
Tim Burton, general manager of K2 Architectural concludes: “Each project we work on has its own specific requirements so the time differences and other individual requirements were all part of the job. We even produced full detailed drawings in feet and inches for all those involved.”
He continues: “The fact that this project was installed several stories up facing the Brooklyn skyline demonstrates our credentials and the broad applications for our glazed portal structures. We’re now actively looking to grow the business.”
