Safety Success At K2

Health and safety issues are of a prime concern for all manufacturers and K2 Glass has just received an award at the Glass Charter Awards in recognition of their processes and procedures within their factory.

K2 Glass won Best Safety Performance (companies under 50 employees) at the recent awards and given the amount of glass processed within their factory, this is a considerable achievement. Mark Bray who has been largely responsible for implementing the health and safety policy commented: “This is an award for everyone at K2 Glass and reflects the fact that we have now established a strong safety culture within the business. Each and every employee should take pride in this award and we will continue to improve our procedures, in the interests in our employees.”

In the tax year 06/07 over 36million working days were lost and more concerning, an estimated 274,000 reportable injuries occurred according to the latest figures from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Companies should and must be more responsible to address these statistics with well over 1,000 companies prosecuted by local authorities and the HSE.

Mark concludes: “It easy to think that injuries or even fatalities won’t happen but they do. As a diligent employer we have worked very hard to ensure the welfare of employees is fully taken into account. That’s what we have put into practice not only at K2 Glass but across the Group, we value the efforts of our employees and it’s our duty to provide a safe environment in which to work.”
