Mill Finish

K2 Conservatories are experiencing an increase in demand for their aluminium conservatory roof system in a mill finish as fabricators look to satisfy the demand for coloured conservatories.

The exterior of K2’s beautiful aluminum system can be offered in a mill finish and that includes the top caps, end caps, trims, boss ends and the crest and finial. This enables specialist fabricators such as CBK, SWC Trade Frames and Optimum Conservatory Roofing to powder coat these products and match them perfectly to the window and door frames for the installer.

This high quality aluminium roof system benefits from the proven structural basis and internal claddings of K2’s PVCu conservatory roof system with a complete aluminium exterior and dedicated crest and finial. The result is what is widely regarded as the fastest aluminum roof system to both fabricate and install.

Charles Fox, sales director at K2 comments: “The mill finish is proving popular and sales continue to grow for the aluminium roof system as both fabricators and installers look to offer something a little more value added. It all goes to reflect that K2 is the perfect partner for the trade and our product range is clearly second to none.”

Architectural Astburations

When it comes to large domestic conservatory installations, Astbury Windows have a proven pedigree and they’ve been building their reputation in portal frame construction since 2003.

Since then the company has continued to grow and develop in this lucrative sector of the market. Yet one aspect of all their larger installations has remained constant and that is the inclusion of K2 products and more specifically the inclusion of the specialist division, K2 Architectural Systems into each project.

Having successfully used the K2 conservatory roof system for their domestic work, Astbury Windows first contacted K2 Architectural to create a gable design with inset lanterns. Lee Astbury, owner of the business comments: “My clients were very specific about their requirements. They wanted all the Georgian grill sizes to be equal width and they also wanted the two feature lanterns to be inset from the gable ends.” K2 Architectural designed the whole project around these specific criteria.

Lee adds: “Working with K2 Architectural from the outset gives us a professional edge, not only in our presentation but we also promote the fact that we are working closely with the industry specialists. The fact that the portal frame, roof system, glass and gable frames are integrated from one supplier is also an added bonus.”

Astbury Windows uses many of the support services offered by K2 Architectural. These include: survey assistance; design drawings; structural calculations and on-site assistance for the portal frame installation. For Astbury Windows, getting K2 involved early means they can accurately cost the job ensuring more accurate profitability, as the last thing any installer wishes to discover is hidden costs. In addition, they also benefit from the fact that K2 can provide working drawings for almost anything from foundation plans up, including intricate flashing details and frame coupling sections.

Tim Burton of K2 Architectural Systems concludes: “It’s great to work with companies such as Astbury Windows. Lee and his team have completed some fabulous projects over the years and we will continue to support him with his ongoing success in this sector.”
