K2 introduces the 70mm eaves beam

K2 are pleased to announce that from January 2012 we will be making the 70mm eaves beam available to all dealers. This component will be available in 4m and 6.5m lengths.

With most windows now being manufactured with a 70mm profile it made sense to offer this dedicated 70mm eaves beam as well as our standard variable one.

Premier fabricator for K2

K2 Conservatories are pleased to announce their latest fabricator in the North West of England

Peter Gray, of Premier Conservatories Supplies is now offering K2 roofs fabrication services from his new premises in Bolton. Peter is definitely a K2 specialist having previously worked for the company for over 10 years, during which time he held several senior roles.

Peter comments: “The demand for K2 roofs is certainly on the increase, which I believe is down to it being the best system on the market . We have also witnessed an increased demand for coloured and aluminium roof, as well as orangeries – so K2 has the perfect product offering... We are already manufacturing in excess of 20 roofs a week and I expect these numbers to increase in early 2012.

Sharon Owen, K2 Sales Director, added: “We are delighted that Peter has joined our network of fabricators; he is ideally located to cover the Central Lancashire region. He is a perfect ambassador for K2 and has a wealth of industry knowledge. We look forward to working closely with Peter in 2012 and we are confident of future growth for both our companies”

Celsius Goes Back To School

When St Thomas Moors Catholic School, Nuneaton, had funding released for their window project earlier this year, Formula One Windows went knocking on the head teacher’s door. Not something that many of us relish doing I imagine... particularly if it is your old school...

As it turns out they were asked to contact the Buildings Manager, Mr David Lloyd, in order to apply for tender.

The school needed to replace all their windows (over 200 frames) in order to provide a more comfortable study environment to their pupils.

Mr Lloyd was looking for two key factors when it came to selecting the right company for the job:

  • The confidence that they could take on such a large project and had the required expertise.
  • The reassurance that the installed product would meet all required technical specifications.

Installing a product in a school comes with its own set of requirements, particularly when it comes to glass.

Formula One fitted their own frames with leading performance glass Celsius One.

K2’s Celsius glass is already approved by Lancashire County Council for all schools in the Lancashire region so the product’s credentials are impeccable.

Manufactured to BS EN 1279-2 standard, toughened to BS EN 12150-1 standard, Celsius comes with a 10 year warranty against seal failure. The units themselves where specified as follows: 6.4mm clear laminate for the inner sheet (a laminated glass being a requirement for a school), 18mm Silver spacer, 4mm Celsius One outer sheet.

Formula One comments: “The Celsius Glass gave a real edge to our tender. Celsius One offered the perfect combination of insulation and protection, Celsius One promotes an impressive U-Value of 1.0 and a heat reflection of 78%. The blue tint is ideal for a classroom setting resulting in added privacy, better sound insulation, and improved glare factor when the sun does shine."

The installation took 6 weeks to complete, over the summer holidays.

Mr Lloyd’s comments: ”There is no doubt that the Formula 1 tender made them stand out from the crowd! We were extremely pleased with both the installation process, which was straightforward, and the finished product. The school has gained a fresh new look, and most importantly the classroom environment and pupils have benefited from the many features mentioned. You really can tell the difference. We have no hesitation in recommending Formula One Windows or the Celsius product.”

Formula One have been working with the K2 roof system and Celsius glass for the past 6 years. They install PVC-U windows, doors and conservatories in Telford and Shropshire.
