Glass vs Polycarbonate

There are many benefits to using glass, however you might have concerns or questions about its use. Here we hope to answer some of the most frequently asked questions about this exciting alternative to polycarbonate. If your particular concern isn’t addressed here, please contact us. We’d be more than happy to provide the honest, impartial advice you need.

Q. How do I price for glass? I’m worried I’ll get it wrong
A. K2 Glass’ price list is a simple to use A4 matrix. Plus, any unusual requirements can be priced in minutes by our dedicated customer services team. All you have to do is fax K2 Glass a roof plan (Fax: 01254 692 389) - or email it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Q. Do I need to supply templates?
A. Not at all. We use innovative computer technology that will accurately cut most shapes of glass without the need for a template. This method is accurate within half a millimetre.

Q. Isn’t handling and delivering glass more difficult than polycarbonate?
A. This is a commonplace misconception with very little truth behind it. Any competent installation team will be used to handling glass on a daily basis and will experience little difficulty or difference in using our units. In addition, we do not supply laminated glass unless the application specifically demands it. This is because it is heavy and more prone to site breakages.

All deliveries from K2 Glass are made using purpose equipped glass handling vehicles and we can deliver direct to site for greater convenience.

Q. Are breakages common and if they happen, won’t they delay the project?
A. To be honest, breakages are few and far between. In the unlikely event of a breakage occurring, we can have replacement products ready for collection within 24 hours (if you collect from your nearest distributor). Alternatively, we can deliver to site within 48 hours.
